This celebration at the Virginia MOCA was a first for us – a wedding without a ceremony! When I first talked with Katherine and Evan last summer, they had just made the move to Portugal. They were both transitioning in their careers and decided to completely seize this time in their lives and make the move overseas after they already spent months traveling. My husband and I had recently returned from a trip to Spain and Portugal ourselves, so their current living situation captured my heart immediately. Then, the real stunner. Katherine and Evan decided that they would have their actual wedding ceremony on the cliffs of Southern Portugal because why the heck wouldn’t you?! Just the two of them, their officiant, and the hotel concierge who played the roll of bridesmaid/witness for the day.

After returning to the states, they wanted to celebrate with their families and friends so that’s where I stepped in. Exactly six months after the ceremony, all of their most-loved people joined them for their celebration. Guests were greeted with a glass of champagne and a slideshow of their wedding ceremony. They enjoyed a delicious dinner together, toasted to the newlyweds, and kept the dance floor packed all night! It was so incredible to see the love everyone had for Katherine and Evan and how excited they were to celebrate them. Thank you to all of the vendors who made their wedding celebration one for the books – check it out below thanks to the awesome Dragon Photo Studio!
